As a membership-based public benefit charity, WE United depends on the support of our members across the regions to help ensure a healthy future for Working Equitation in the United States.
We need YOU to nominate yourself or others to run for elected office on the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the non-profit’s work: creating and approving annual budgets, authorizing expenditures, developing policies, and appointing committees to carry out the work of the organization.
Regional Director seats are two-year positions. Those currently serving as Regional Directors ARE eligible for re-election. In 2019, the following regions are up for election: Region 1, Region 3, Region 5, and Region 7.
REGIONAL DIRECTORS must live in the region they are elected to serve.
- Region 1: Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana.
- Region 3: Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, and Colorado.
- Region 5: Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky.
- Region 7: Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and US territories in the Atlantic.
In addition, each year, we will be seeking nominations for the positions of President Elect and Secretary. The President Elect serves one year in that position before rotating into the position of President, and then rotating again into the position of Past President. The Secretary serves a one-year term, and can also be re-elected.
The nominations window, which officially opened September 1, will close on September 18th.
All current members with email addresses on file were sent an email through our MailChimp account on September 3. We realize that some email services block emails sent from MailChimp or place them in a Spam folder, so if you don’t see the nomination email in your inbox, please check your Spam folder. If you still can’t locate it, please write to President Polly Limond at President@WEUnited.us to request that she send you the email with the link to the nomination form. Nominations close at midnight on September 18 this year (due to the delay in sending out the nominations email because of Labor Day weekend falling on the 1st).
Thank you in advance for participating fully in the democratic process. It’s an important part of making sure that the organization represents our members.
