At their Board meeting on March 5, 2019, the WE United Board of Directors voted unanimously to host the first North American Championship Working Equitation Competition October 10-13, 2019 in Del Mar, California, in place of the National Championship Show previously planned for that date and location.
The decision was made to enable the show to be more inclusive of WE United members who compete in working equitation on the North American continent, regardless of their country of residence and to reduce potential confusion that might arise if two different WE national championships were held in the U.S. in the same year. The change to a North American Championship will enable the organization to welcome all our members to the most important competition of the year, rather than excluding those who reside outside the U.S..
The show will officially be licensed as an A-Rated competition (because it is neither a Regional nor a National Championship), yet to maintain the integrity of the Championship title, the event will follow all the requirements expected of a Championship. Horse/rider pairs will still need to qualify (by earning a score of 58% or higher in both Dressage and Ease of Handling and not disqualifying in Speed (Novice A and above) at a licensed Working Equitation Show in North America with a judge licensed by WE United, WAWE, or a WAWE member nation. All horses will be required to pass a veterinary inspection prior to competing, and the same requirements for staffing (judges, TD, farrier, EMT, veterinarian, etc.) will apply.
The Show Premium and Entry Form have been updated to reflect this change.
Welcome, Bienvenue, Bem-vindo, Bienvenidos!
