We are pleased to announce that our Licensed Officials Committee has recommended, and the Board has approved, the following members as WE United Judges and Licensed Officials:

  • Jill Barron, of Turner Valley, Alberta earned her “r” Judge license as well as her Technical Delegate license.
  • Kris Blacklock of Prairie Du Sac, Wisconsin earned her Technical Delegate license.
  • Sarah Pinney of Vista, California earned her “L” Judge license.

Jill (see photo, above) has been active in Working Equitation both in her homeland of Canada and here in the United States. A long-time trainer with an active lesson and competition program, she has hosted numerous WE clinics and shows at her facility in Turner Valley, Alberta and has judged both in Canada and the United States.

Kris, who also chairs the WE United Awards Committee, logged more miles last year in pursuit of opportunities to compete in Working Equitation than any other member, easily clinching the Introductory Level National #1 spot with her Quarter Horse mare Boon Ocean Blue and finishing 3rd in the Nation with her Rocky Mountain Horse gelding Gambler’s Jackpot. Her experience at so many diverse WE competitions in so many different states will no doubt serve her well as a technical delegate.

Sarah, trainer and active WE competitor, made the 2018 Top Ten National standings for Introductory level U.S. riders, and she finished in the Top Ten in Region at Novice A riding her Andalusian Cielo and at Introductory level riding her Andalusian Pascoa.

All three newly-licensed officials had submitted their application for licensure prior to the adoption of the new Licensed Officials Program, and their materials were thus  reviewed prior to the June 1 deadline. Candidates who attended the United States Working Equitation Officials Seminar in April of 2019 will have their materials reviewed by the Licensed Officials Committee beginning in June.
