Show Report: 2018 Heart of Texas, #2

With 25 competitors, the 2nd show in the 2018 Heart of Texas series gave people plenty of opportunities to shine under the watchful eye of judge Susan Watkins, r, California.

Maddie Harding rode her pony Pecos Bill to a 1st place finish in the one-entry Children’s class, with a 65.79% in Dressage and a 62.50% in Ease of Handling.

Melanie Etter and Steppin in Cool and Julie Horton and Valentine To a TE battled it out in the three-entry Introductory Amateur class, with Melanie taking home 1st place in Dressage (59.40%) and 3rd in Ease of Handling (60%) and Julie earning 3rd place in Dressage (55.60%) and 1st in Ease of Handling (62.81%) to win 2nd place overall. Michele Harris and Tivitos Lil Gal finished 2nd in both trials to end the show in 3rd place overall.

Doreen Atkinson and JC Jedidiah swept the four-entry Introductory Open class, winning 1st place in both Dressage (66.40%) and Ease of Handling (63.13%) for the overall win. Susan Dossett and Disgo Moon came in 3rd in Dressage (63.40%) and 2nd in Ease of Handling (62.81%) to win 2nd place overall honors. Allyson Dehaven and Aisling Cibarra Snow finished 3rd overall, and Megan Kenney and Apple Acre Capra finished 4th.

Kiki Pantaze and Sandhaven CatCandu swept the Novice A Amateur class, winning 1st place in Dressage (64.35%), Ease of Handling (67.06%) and Speed, while Michele Dupy and Bayo La Reyna had respectable rides, earning 58.48% in Dressage and 60.88% in Ease of Handling.

The Novice A Open class, with six entries the largest class at the show, was won by Rebecca Algar riding Azahar MSM. The two came in 1st in Dressage (71.79%) and Ease of Handling (71.77%) and finished 6th in Speed to win the class overall. Lisa Harding and Sandhaven Celebration came in 2nd Dressage (66.74%), Ease of Handling (71.18%) and Speed to win 2nd place overall. Michael Vermaas came in 3rd on Regulus RDL, with Christine Potocki on RDL Zanetta HGA coming in 4th, Michael and Alazan HGA 5th, and Christine on Sandhaven Viper 6th.

Prissy Rumel and Morita de Mali swept the two-entry Novice B class with a 63.28% in Dressage, 61.77% in Ease of Handling and a 1st-place finish in Speed. Katy Spell and Francesca’s a Cocoa Chica came in 2nd, earning 60.86% in Dressage, 54.12 in Ease of Handling, and 2nd place in Speed.

Jade Gonzales and Finaleehetouchedme came in 1st in Dressage (70.84%) and Ease of Handling (71.47%) and 2nd in Speed to win 1st place overall in the four-entry Intermediate A Amateur class, with sister Deidra Keithley and Kiss My Angel a close second, with 67.22% in Dressage, 71.05% in Ease of Handling, and the fastest speed time in the class. Jade and Luppy’s Boyfriend came in 3rd and Terri Watts and Dem Latte Con Leche were 4th overall.

Kiki Pantaze on Sandhaven Late to the Party and Andrea Galbraith on Dylan Casimoro battled it out in the two-entry Intermediate B Amateur class, with Kiki taking home 1st place in Dressage (64.87%), Ease of Handling (69.74%) and Speed, despite Andrea’s very nice scores of 62.69% in Dressage and 65.53% in Ease of Handling.

Lisa Harding and Sandhaven Shameless earned high marks while winning the one-entry Intermediate B Open class, with 65.26% in Dressage, 65.79% in Ease of Handling, and a speedy Speed run.

Kiki, Andrea, and Lisa all earned scores toward their Silver Lifetime Rider Medals at this event.
