Thirteen riders competed Working Equitation Competition held at the first Andalusian World East show in North Carolina, May 12-14, 2017. The event, sponsored by Haras Dos Cavaleiros, was judged by Texas judge Tarrin Warren.
Haras Dos Cavaleiros horses and riders did very well at the event, winning all but one of the classes. Tiago Ernesto won the three-entry Novice B class on the Lusitano Hercules DC and the one-entry Masters class with the Lusitano Cossaco, while Dori Johnson won the one-entry Intermediate A class with the Lusitano mare Fiona DC and the three-entry Intermediate B class with Rummy, a German riding pony.
WE United member Elizabeth Morosani and her Half-Andalusian mare Sonrisa TLM won the largest class at the event, the Novice A, with five riders. In the process, this lovely horse/rider team from Candlerer, NC, met the qualification requirements for the National Championship competition to be held over Labor Day Weekend in Oregon, the only Novice A competitors to achieve this goal at the event. Elizabeth and Sonrisa stood in third place after the Dressage trial, but their first place finish in both Ease of Handling and Speed were enough to capture the overall win.
