Biltmore Equestrian Center in Asheville, North Carolina hosted two back to back B-rated WE shows the weekend of June 29th and 30th. Tarrin Warren from Milano, TX was the Judge, with Charles Faison as the Show Secretary, and Deanna Baldwin of Hendersonville, NC as the Technical Delegate. Biltmore Estates is an 8,000 acre estate that includes a state of the art equestrian center.
There were 11 horse and rider pairs competing on Saturday June 29th. In the Introductory division, there were 6 horse and rider combinations. Arielle Blackstone competing on her grade horse Brego, earned an exceptional score of 70.8% in Dressage. This earned her a 1st place. She also earned 1st place in Ease of Handling with a score of 74.69%, for a 1st place overall. Laura Addington riding Zip N to the Music received a score of 70. 94% in ease of handling putting her in second place, she placed 4th in the Dressage portion with a 56% and a 2nd place overall. Emily Kemp came in 2nd in Dressage with a 63.96% on her Gypsy Vanner Sergeant Pepper. Emily went on to get 4th place in the Ease of Handling scoring 60.31%, and 3rd place overall. Next up in the scores was Kristin Aeh riding a Half-Andalusian named Restless Pepe. Kristin received 3rd place in Dressage with a 60.40%. In Ease of Handling she also placed 3rd with a 60.62%, placing her 4th overall. Vicki Fair competing on the Warlander IF Michaelangelo was 5th in Dressage with 55%. She was 6th in Ease of Handling with a 55% as well, placing 5th overall. Paula Baran competing on Starlite placed 6th in Dressage earning a 50.4%, and 5th in Ease of Handling with a 55.9%, placing 6th overall.
In the Novice A division a total of 4 riders competed on Saturday. Elizabeth Morosani competed on the Half-Andalusian Sonrisa TLM She won the Dressage event with a 68.6%. In the Ease of Handling she placed second with a 59.44% earning 3 points, placing 1st overall. River Dance ridden by Jill Roten placed 2nd overall by placing 2nd in Dressage with a 66.1% and 1st in Ease of Handling with a 62.22%. Sue Mullen competing on Israel’s Quixote an Arabian came in 3rd place overall. She placed 3rd in Dressage and Ease of Handling with a 63.8% and 53.39% respectively. In 4th place was Jill Malone on Jade II Da Sernadinha placing 4th in Dressage with a 55.5%; unfortunately, Malone was disqualified from the Ease of Handling.
The Novice B division on Saturday had one rider competing. Emily Kemp competed again, this time on the Haflinger Soba TCF. She received a 52% in Dressage and a 63.42% in Ease of Handling, placing 1st in both and overall.
Sunday June 30th saw 4 horse and rider combinations compete in the Novice Division. Emily Kemp won the division with a 72.92% in Dressage placing her first in the class, and a 69.71% also placing her in 1st in the Ease of Handling. She was on the Gypsy Vanner Sergeant Pepper. Kristin Aeh competed again on the Half-Andalusian Restless Pepe. She placed 2nd overall by earning a 65.42% in Dressage. In Ease of Handling she placed 3rd with a 61.18%. Emily Pair Litman rode Brego a grade horse who competed on Saturday. She received a 60.63% in Dressage placing her 4th. In Ease of Handling she received a 65.59% placing her 2nd, and 3rd overall. Vicki Fair competing on the Warlander IF Michaelangelo was 3rd in Dressage with 61.04%. She was 4th in Ease of Handling with a 55.29% placing 4th overall.
