Show Report: Independence Weekend II, 2018

Eighteen horse/rider pairs competed in the WE United show at Fox Valley Saddle Association in Hampshire, Illinois, on Sunday, July 1, 2018, under judge Polly Limond, r, California. Sharon Kinney, from Wisconsin served as technical delegate for the weekend. The beautiful obstacles and thematic course decorations were provided by Howard and Erica Peet, of Peet Equestrian.

Kris Blacklock and her Rocky Mountain Horse Gambler’s Jackpot took home the Overall Champion award in the two-entry Gaited Horse Division, Introductory level, with 63.20% in Dressage and 66.25% in Ease of Handling. Andrea Marcinkus and her Spotted Saddle Horse Rorschach Valentine took the overall Reserve Champion in the class, with 60.4% in Dressage and 59.69% in Ease of Handling.

Kris Blacklock and her Quarter Horse Boon Ocean Blue took home the Championship in the 8-entry Introductory Open class, coming in 2nd in Dressage (68.40%) in Dressage and 1st in Ease of Handling (70.94%). Toni Harmon and her Quarter Horse ELS Scottish Lad came in 3rd in Dressage (67.8%) and 2nd in Ease of Handling (69.06%) to earn Reserve Champion overall.  Eleanor Thomas and her Andalusian RA Comandante placed 1st in Dressage (70.80%) and 4th in Ease of Handling (64.69%) to finish 3rdplace overall.

Michigan member Alex Tyson and her Quarter Horse Chex My Loaded Gun swept the three-entry Novice A class, earning 64.13% in Dressage, 63.82% in Ease of Handling, and racing through Speed with a time of 4:02.7, to earn Overall Champion for the day. Maureen Tolemy and her breeding stock Paint horse Comedian’s Silkyair came in 3rd in Dressage (54.57%) and 2nd in Ease of Handling (62.65%) to take home the Reserve Championship. Linda Sabatini and her Andalusian stallion Acierto G won 2nd in Dressage (60.65%) and 3rd in Ease of Handling( 53.53%) to finish third place overall.

Howard Peet and Andalusian gelding Jubiloso del C won the overall Champion title in the three-entry Intermediate A class. The pair finished 1st in Dressage (61.94%) and Ease of Handling (58.88%) and 2nd in Speed. Howard also piloted Andalusian stallion Luchador BP to the Reserve Champion title, placing 2nd in Dressage (60.69%) and 1st in Speed (3:41.7). He rode Andalusian mare Fresona ROY to 3rd place overall.

Jodi Funk rode her grade horse Sam da Man to the Champion title in Intermediate B, earning a 62.69% in Dressage, 62.2% in Dressage, and the fastest Speed time of the day with a 3:10.3. Impressive!

Alex Tyson earned two more qualifying scores toward her Lifetime Bronze Medal, and Jodi Funk earned her first two qualifying scores toward her Lifetime Silver Medal.
