Wonder Lake, Illinois welcomed Working Equitation fans from Illinois, Michigan, and Wisconsin to a weekend of competition and laughter with two back-to-back licensed competitions judged by Polly Limond, r, California.
Day 2, September 24, 2017, dawned hot and humid, but the weather wasn’t enough to scare six brave competitors from the field.
Kris Blacklock took 1st place on the four-year-old Quarter Horse Boon Ocean Blue and 2nd place on her Rocky Mountain gelding Gambler’s Jackpot in the 4-entry Introductory class. Sandy Klinky and Coco and Christine Righeimer on Whisper both put the previous day’s lessons to good use, improving their rides and turning in very respectable performances. Erica Peet rode SM Serafin through three clean rounds, in the process earning her first qualifying score toward her Lifetime Silver Medal.
The event also welcomed first-time competitor Linda Sabatini, who rode her Andalusian stallion Acierto G in the “training wheels’ class, where she was able to school the obstacles with assistance on course, riding for practice only rather than awards or points.
