Show Report: WE Oregon August 11-12, 2017

The August 11-12, 2017 WE United B-Rated Competition welcomed 30 competitors to the Oregon Horse Center’s Prairie Arena in Eugene, Oregon, with “R” judge Kim Peterson, Australia, officiating.

Linda Martin and Trigger took 1st in Dressage and 2nd in Ease of Handling to win the 10-entry Introductory level class, while junior rider Tristan Cruden rode SR Lady of Chance to a 2nd in Dressage and 1st in Ease of Handling to come in second (the two tied, with 20 points overall, but Linda’s slightly higher combined Dressage and Ease of Handling average edged her the victory).  Samantha Westby and Snippers Remedy finished third overall in the class, with a 3rd-place in Dressage and 4th in Ease of Handling.

Kathy Orr and Mouse came in 1st in Dressage, 7th in Ease of Handling, and 3rd in Speed to win the 10-entry Novice A class while Lizann Dunegan and Yfke Von Borstel finished 4th in Dressage, 2nd in Ease of Handling and 5th in Speed to finish second overall. Mark Mason and Shannon’s Gold Remedy finished 6th in both Dressage and Speed, but their 1st-place in Ease of Handling brought them to 3rd place overall for the competition.

Michael Godding and Sephiroth placed 2nd in both Dressage and Ease of Handling, but clinched the overall victory in the Novice B class, while Jill Lovelace and Driftin Juniper finished second.

It was a fight to the finish for the six-entry Intermediate A competitors. Jill Hamann-Bannister and Omni’s Easy Jet tied with Heather Humelbaugh and F.T. Sheer Perfection, both earning 15 points, with Jill’s combined Dressage and Ease of Handling percentage giving her the final win overall. Makenzie Holley and Terra Blanca came in third place overall.

Cari Schwartz and Exsarena won the Advanced level class (in the process earning scores that qualify them to compete at that level in the National Championship), with Morgan Wagner and Endo the Blind coming in second.

The following people earned scores toward their Bronze Lifetime Rider Medal: Kathy Orr, Mark Mason, Lisa Routh, Ashley Smith, and Kristina Eckert.

The following people earned scores toward their Silver Lifetime Rider Medal: Jill Hamann-Bannister, Heather Humelbaugh, and Makenzie Holley.

A number of competitors earned the scores needed to enable them to compete in the National Championship classes at the WE United Championships September 1-3, 2017.
