Show Report: WEKS Buckle Series #3

Twenty-four horse/rider pairs gathered at The Rockin’ RC ranch in Topeka, Kansas August 25-26, 2018 to compete at the third licensed competition in the 2018 Working Equitation Kansas Buckle Series.

Wisconsin member Kris Blacklock and Boon Ocean Blue swept the nine-entry Introductory Level class with a 66.20% in Dressage and a 74.38% in Ease of Handling. Shelby Bluthart and Abe placed 2nd in Dressage (64%) and 3rd in Ease of Handling (64.06%) to finish 2nd overall. Kris Blacklock and Rocky Mountain Horse Gambler’s Jackpot finished 4th in Dressage (59.20%) and 2nd in Ease of Handling (66.56%) to win 3rd place overall.

Dan Keil and RCC Nottingham placed 1st in Dressage (63.04%) and 2nd in Ease of Handling (65.83%) and Speed (3:12.44) to win 1st place overall. Cindy Branham rode Aztec the Mustang to a 9th place finish in Dressage (54.35%), and 1st in Ease of Handling (67.22%) and Speed (3:01.90) to finish 2nd place overall. Ellen Breeding and Cisco finished 5th in Dressage (59.57%), 3rd in Ease of Handling (62.5%) and 2nd in Speed (3:12.15) to finish 3rd overall in the nine-entry Novice A class.

In the two-entry Novice B class, Linda Frazier and Starlights Express came in 1st in Dressage (63.28%) and Ease of Handling (66.94%) and 2nd in Speed (2:53.69) to take the overall win. Youth rider Madison Branham and Joshua the Mustang came in 2nd in Dressage (58.1%) and Ease of Handling (63.61%) and 1st in Speed (2:51.08) to win 2nd place overall.

The two-entry Intermediate A class was won by Kim McBroom and Oakley Twisten Lark, who placed 1st in Dressage (65.14%) and Ease of Handling (68.33%) and 2nd in Speed (3:10.72). Linda Frazier and Rosie’s Chexy Lady MC came in 2nd in Dressage (61.11%) and Ease of Handling (66.72%) and 1st in Speed (2:50.00) to finish 2nd overall.

Cindy Branham and Tucker the Mustang placed 1st in Dressage (66.15%) and Speed (3:19.8) and 2nd in Ease of Handling (58.33%) to finish 1st overall. Bill Walton and Peptos San Vanna came in 2nd in Dressage (64.49%) and 1st in Ease of Handling (66.67%), but disqualified in the Speed trial to finish 2nd place overall.
