Nebraska member Michele Lincoln rode her 1996 Pinto gelding Major Design (Sissy x Dynasty’s Design) to finish the 2017 competition year in 4th place out of all Introductory-level competitors in Region 3.
Michele, who has owned Major Design for 18 years, says of him: “He’s just so handsome with a lot of personality.”
Michele was led to the sport at the invitation of a friend. “My friend Kara Honeysuckle-Mehaffy invited my friend Sharon Friedman, who in turn invited me, to go with her to check out a cool new sport at a local Working Equitation Clinic,” she explains. “I love the versatility of the sport going from Dressage to the Ease of Handling with the obstacles and that is so good for the development of the horse and rider.”
Since that initial clinic, Michele has been an active participant in the sport, not only as a competitor, but also volunteering to chair the WE United Financial Oversight Committee.
When asked if there were anyone she would like to thank for their support, Michele answered, “I am grateful to Kara Mehaffy for introducing me to Working Equitation and to Tarrin Warren for being such an awesome instructor.”
